Someone is killing the Colton men. Erin Colton was pregnant when her husband was murdered right before her eyes. Glen, her father in law, had given up on finding justice until Dave, his only son and Erin's husband, falls victim to what appears to be the same killer that killed his brothers fifty years ago. The killer left notes which hints at revenge, possibly for the actions of Glen's father during World War Two. The local police cannot solve the crimes, but Erin is determined to stop the killing and threats and remove the curse that might someday befall her newborn son. Erin reinvents herself, and her new audacious behavior puts her life in jeopardy. She must drop her inhibitions and compromise her reputation by doing things that would shock her family and friends. Erin's search provokes dangerous people and leads her into dangerous places.

She also makes new friends, one of whom becomes more than a friend and with his help, she attempts to put an end to the Verlautenheide Vendetta.
