This story is about a girl called Ico. She's much like any other seven year old girl when we meet her playing in the waves on the beach. Curious, brave, full of fun, hungry for adventure - and salty snacks! Except she's a princess and she lived 800 years ago on the island that we know of today as Lanzarote. Ico's adventures take a path that she was not was expecting when Pirates take her older brother from the island. Ico now has to learn how to become a future leader. Her parents are expert guides but they are also taken from her too quickly. While Ico is dealing with grief, she has to become Queen. What she doesn't realise is that she will have to fight, almost to her death, superstition and tradition to claim this responsibility.
Based on Lanzarote folklore, this tale is aimed at a 9 years old plus reader.
