Sylvia Plath (1932-63) was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and studied at Smith College. She published one collection of poems in her lifetime, The Colossus (1960), and a novel, The Bell Jar (1963). Her Collected Poems was published in 1981 and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for poetry. Amanda Golden is author of Annotating Modernism: Marginalia and Pedagogy from Virginia Woolf to the Confessional Poets (2020) and co-editor of The Bloomsbury Handbook to Sylvia Plath (2022). Karen V. Kukil is editor of The Journals of Sylvia Plath (2000) and co-editor of the two-volume edition of The Letters of Sylvia Plath (2017/18).
