Professor Charlie Douglas suddenly finds murder intruding on his post-modernism classes and writing. Has the philosophy department's bickering come to killing? Charlie can't resist doing a little amateur sleuthing, but questioning department members and students, and looking into the life of the victim, results in too many motives. Charlie can't make much sense of what happened and is especially puzzled by a list he finds. Then there is another murder.
