"This book is a valuable resource for gear engineers because it covers most of the issues a gear engineer must deal with. I like the updating (in the Third Edition) to add Direct Gear Design and the Finite Element Method. Its strongest benefit is that it preserves Dudley's archives." Robert Errichello, GEARTECH, Townsend, Montana, USA "Dudley´s Gear Handbook has been a very well-known and often used standard book in the hands of general engineers and specifically gear engineers over many years. In the new edition several chapters were added which are essential in modern gear design. These are the very comprehensive description of Gear Load Rating including relevant standards, the discussion of Asymmetric Gear Design and last but not least the use of Finite Element Analysis in gear applications. Dudley´s original diction and pictures preserve a high recognition value of the book, however, in some cases it could be appropriate to think of modernizing some pictures in this or a next revision. This undoubtedly standard Handbook over many years has made significant gains with the new edition.
I can only highly recommend it to every gear engineer." Karsten Stahl, Technical University of Munich, Garching, Germany modernizing some pictures in this or a next revision.
