This series, targeted to upper elementary and middle school students, is distinguished by its concept of using traditional print and Web site sources to provide information. Each page of text is designed to look like a computer screen, and many of the illustrations are screen shots from Web sites. The publisher's Web site, . offers links to the 30 sites listed in each book. Beginning August 1, 2003, this site will require the password found in each title. Because of the integration of Web sites, information is sparser in these books than in other series. The only maps are a state map and a United States map with the state's location. The books include no time line or glossary.
Chapters cover the land and climate, economy, government, and history. Hawaii contains a separate chapter on its culture, and Oregon and Ohio each have a chapter on famous people.
