Miyazaki the Auteur : Using the Auteur Theory to Analyse the Interior Meaning Within the Films of Hayao Miyazaki
Using the "auteur theory", Shane Roberts analyses the "interior meaning" within the works of legendary Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki. The investigation is primarily focused on two of Miyazaki's films - Princess Mononoke (1997) and Spirited Away (2001). Through analysing the "interior meaning" within the films of Hayao Miyazaki we are then able to understand the more ambiguous themes within his work, ultimately enriching a body of work that is amongst one of the most revered in cinema history.
