Susan Byrum Rountree has visited the Nags Head area every summer of her life. A freelance writer and essayist, she grew up in the small town of Scotland Neck and has long written about the people and places of eastern North Carolina. The mother of two teenagers, she lives in Raleigh, where she is a monthly columnist for the News and Observer. Nags Headers is her first book.
