The three plays in this collection, Blue Heron in the Womb. Glissando on an Empty Harp, and Love in Plastic, all reflect Ian Rowlands's vigorous intellect and fascination with words. Blue Heron is a black comedy about a family who gathers to scatter the ashes of a dead child. They are divided in grief, blown apart by jealousy. Glissandro, with echoes of about two poet-tramps, a mute, and a woman who gives birth to a box, and a head that appears on video. The final play, set in a seedy restaurant and focusing on seven different people, explores the debasement of Welshness and language.
