Near the Oblivion River
Elmer Gilhooley has come to the conclusion that being a gunman is a rather thankless job. His friends won't talk to him, he's got no job, his girl left town, and shooting prairie dogs is his only entertainment. He would like to forget the past and be left alone. He's resigned himself to staying out in the woods and keeping his head down, until he draws one of Montana's rare bighorn sheep tags and is convinced to go hunting in the Missouri Breaks. Elmer's hunt takes a nasty turn when he discovers that he's the kind of man who is not easily forgotten or forgiven.
