Educating Women in Australia : From the Convict Era to the 1920's
Educating Women in Australia looks at the education of Australian women in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. During this period, women were educated for work in the home and to be the centre of the family unit. Not only did the curriculum for girls reflect the skills they would need to manage home and family, but entire schools were established for this purpose. Some of Australia's largest, independent schools trace their roots to this function.
