The carriage lurched forward with no warning and started to slide along the rainbow at breakneck speed. As they sped away from the platform Daithí noticed that the conductor was still on the platform with a horrified look on her face. ?Something is wrong? said Daithí ?the carriages started without the conductor!? ?What does that mean? asked Chloe. ?The carriages should not be able to move without the conductor on board? said Peter. ?The conductors are responsible for the carriages, they control the speed and the smoothness of the journey and this means there has not been an accident in 200 years? said Daithí. The carriage lurched sideways and they all fell off their seats. As they picked themselves up off the floor they noticed that there were no other people in their carriage. ?Where did they all go? asked Chloe curiously.

?Woof? said Raggie ?they were never here, I don't smell anything? barked Raggie. Peter saw a red crystal on the floor. He bent over to pick it up. As he touched it there was a flash of light and Peter screamed and dropped the crystal on the floor. Smoke twisted out of the crystal and in the smoke they could see a shadowy figure. The figure spoke ?I warned you Rose not to interfere you will pay for your mistake with your life, Blackthorn still has until the full moon to decide. This carriage is out of control you have condemned yourself and your advisers. The carriage will not stop at Sandy Desert and you will crash into the station.

By now the conductors know that they have a runaway carriage and will have evacuated Sandy Desert terminal. This will save innocent fairies. However the crash prevention magic won't work. Enjoy your last rainbow ride! ? The carriage sped on along the rainbow road and lurched dangerously as it followed the curves of the rainbow. ?Why did that smoke monster call me Rose? asked Chloe. ?I don't know? admitted Peter. ?Woof we have to slow this carriage down? barked Raggie. ?You are right? said Peter we will worry about the strange things the smoke monster said later'.

Peter looked out the windows and the landscape had changed, they were speeding along above a blanket of golden sand, which sparkled and shone in the sunlight. In the distance they could see a huge dome rising out of the sand and they could see all the rainbow roads coming out of the dome, if they weren't in such danger the sight would have been breath-taking. ?The carriages normally start slowing down from here? said Peter ?it allows everyone to see the station and the beautiful colours. Their carriage was not slowing down it was picking up speed. ?The magic which is supposed to be slowing down the carriage is actually making it faster? shouted Peter in alarm. Meanwhile Daithí was sitting quietly in the centre of the carriage. ?I think I have an idea? he said. ?It looks like a reverse spell has been put on the carriage which makes it speed up when it is supposed to be slowing down? said Daithí.

?Peter can you do a spell to change it back to normal? asked Chloe. Peter looked doubtful he closed his eyes and spoke some magic words. A lightning bolt shot out of the red crystal knocking him backward with such force that he knocked his head on a bench and lay unmoving on the floor. Raggie bounded forward and picked up the red crystal in this mouth and dropped it out the window.
