This book explores the changes to China's energy policy, from a national security perspective as well as from the perspective of reducing emissions. Heavily reliant on coal, China is trying to pivot towards renewable energy; the economics and technologies involved in this, as well as the social impact of abandoning coal, are explored at length. At the same time, Chinese companies are increasingly investing abroad, including in energy, via the Belt and Road Initiative; the authors explore China's role to the global energy governance system.
