Occasionally, when planning a new issue, there are happy accidents-those moments when things fall into place better than you could have imagined.While creating the list of interviews and profiles, I realized that we would be featuring amazing local women whose work makes New Orleans shine even brighter. There's Ellie Schilling, pro-choice attorney; Maya Taylor, choreographer at the Marigny Opera House Dance Company; Kyle June Williams, actor, writer, and comedienne; and a slew of talented creatives spanning food, visual art, and music.Women face significant obstacles in every career field, but the ladies in this issue kick ass both inside and outside of their work. And though I have serendipity to thank for our feature idea, there's nothing accidental about the way Invaders go after-and get-what they want.My hope is that with each issue of INVADE, we will cultivate a place where thinkers, creators, and doers can grow.
