Efrem Sigel is the author of two novels, four nonfiction books and dozens of short stories and memoirs. His novel The Disappearance (The Permanent Press, 2009) garnered 3½ stars from People Magazine and raves from Publishers Weekly ("powerful and elegantly crafted. Subtle and probing") and from Booklist ("gripping, emotional, and tender. Will resonate with any reader.") Kirkus said: "Every parent's nightmare. [but] Sigel's control over the delicate material rescues the novel from melodrama." Sigel is also the author of THE KERMANSHAH TRANSFER (Macmillan, 1973) of four nonfiction books, including VIDEOTEXT (Knowledge Industry Publications, Harmony Books, 1979, 1980), VIDEO DISCS (Knowledge Industry Publications, Van Nostrand Reinhold, 1980, 1981) and BOOKS, LIBRARIES AND ELECTRONICS (Knowledge Industry Publications, 1982). He is also the author of more than 50 published short stories, memoirs and OpEds in such magazines and newspapers as the Antioch Review, the Jerusalem Post, The Journal, the Xavier Review, the New York Daily News, Nimrod, the MacGuffin, Sixfold, Per Se, Gemini, Publishers Weekly, Datamation, the Saturday Review and The Reporter.

He has an A.B. from Harvard College and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He lives in New York City. He is active as a board member and adviser to nonprofits in the field of education, and as a project leader for teams of volunteers, all HBS alumni, who provide pro bono consulting to nonprofits in the greater New York area.
