Moiss Silva holds the Mary French Rockefeller Distinguished Chair in New Testament Studies at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Besides writing a commentary on Philippians (Baker Exegetical Commentary on the NT), he is author of Biblical Words and Their Meaning, Has the Church Misread the Bible? and God, Language, and Scripture and is co-author of An Introduction to Biblical Hermeneutics (with Walter C. Kaiser). He is editor of the Baker Exegetical Commentary series and Foundations of Contemporary Interpretation and former editor of Westminster Theological Journal (1982-95). He holds a Th.M. from Westminster Theological Seminary and a Ph.D.


from the University of Manchester and did graduate work in Semitics at Dropsie University.
