Lauren Simmons is very passionate about working with students who are labeled disadvantaged, at-risk or "bad." Like many of the students that she taught, she was once an at-risk student who was faced with the various challenges of Title I education. She recalls many of her teachers motivating her to excel in school and put her best foot forward. She believes some of the best teachers are found in inner city schools. Furthermore, when she became a teacher, she began to recognize the disparities found in education especially facing African American males. As a result of her frustrations, Lauren developed a stream of practices in her classroom, that changed how she viewed education completely. She has shared these practices with other teachers and they were able to experience the same success as she dis. She wanted to share these practices with other teachers to provide some level of support.

She believes that we have to ReThink Education in the 21st Century if we are going to help propel our students to the future.Lauren has a motto that whatever you are passionate about the universe will make room for you so pursue your passion. She encourages students to be the best the can be by helping to eliminate the barriers that impede their progress.
