Susan J. Slotkis, ASID Allied Member, IDEC Educational Affiliate, IFDA Professional, is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Interior Design Department of Fashion Institute of Technology and an adjunct instructor at New York University. For 25 years she has provided interior design services through her firm Profiles-Personalized Interiors. She develops and delivers seminars on a variety of design topics. In 2011, Slotkis received the National ASID Chapter Medalist Award, the highest award bestowed by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) on Society members at the chapter level in recognition of outstanding service and significant contributions to their chapter and to the body of knowledge that supports the profession of interior design. She currently serves on both the International and NY Chapter boards of directors for the International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA) as Director at Large and Director of Branding, respectively. Ankerson, MS, NCARB certified, IDEC, is Department Head of Interior Architecture and Product Design in the College of Architecture, Planning and Design at Kansas State University. She has previously held positions as Associate Dean and Professor of Interior Design at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Professor at both Radford University and Washington State University following 15 years as an architectural and interior design practitioner. Ankerson's work lies in the areas of senior living environments, particularly adaptive environments that encourage aging-in-place; and learning and teaching in the design disciplines. Her teaching most regularly includes undergraduate, upper-level studio courses and interior construction documents, and graduate courses in interior design. She has written several books and has authored multiple articles and presentations.
