THE DUTIES OF A PASTOR There are several different everyday duties of which a pastor must take care. The Bible gives us several, but the church will also try to place more duties onto the pastor. I think it is important to remember that God calls and gifts the pastor. The church also calls the pastor, but its call should be for him to do the things that God wishes for him to do. Most of the other things the church wants him to do should be done by the church. One of the jobs of the pastor is to equip the church to do these things. The following is what I find in the Bible as the duties of the pastor. These duties of a pastor, which applied to the New Testament times, also apply to us today.
A. THE PASTOR IS TO MINISTER THE WORD OF GOD (Act. 6:4) B. THE PASTOR IS TO PRAY (ACTS 6:4) C. THE PASTOR IS TO FEED THE SHEEP (John 21:15-17) D. THE PASTOR IS TO EQUIP THE SAINTS (Eph. 4:11-16) E. THE PASTOR IS TO DIRECT THE AFFAIRS OF THE CHURCH (1 TIM 3:5; 5:17) F.
THE PASTOR IS TO PRACTICE WHAT HE PREACHES (EPH. 4:11-12).
