Two questions are tackled in this text, namely: is what, or whether oneelieves the significant religious question; and although the religiousommunities of the world differ in belief, how much do they really differ inaith? To address these questions, the author explores what the terms "faith"nd "belief" mean in themselves and the nature of the relationship betweenhem. Smith examines how the increased awareness of the history of religionnd comparative culture has contributed to the current understanding ofumanity and faith.
