Scott Lankford earned his PhD in Modern Thought and Literature at Stanford University in 1991 with a dissertation on John Muir and the Nature of America. Currently a professor of English at Foothill College, his book Tahoe Beneath the Surface was named Bronze Medal Nature Book of the Year by Foreword Magazine in 2010.
