Carole Aufranc is an illustrator based in Switzerland. She holds a Master's in Children's Book Illustration from the University of Cambridge. She creates work for all kind of formats: children's books, stationery, magazines and textile. She uses a special hybrid handmade and digital papercut and collage technique. She developed her craft over the years, drawing inspiration especially from her love for nature, nordic simplicity and mid-century art. She has done illustration and covers for many publishers, including NorthSouth Books, Simon and Schuster, Plume de Carotte and Moppet Books. Johanna Louise Spyri (1827-1901) was a Swiss author of novels, notably children's stories. Born near Zurich, Switzerland, Spyri spent several summers near Chur in Graubünden as a child, the setting she would later use in Heidi .
She wrote Heidi in 1880. Appearing in more than 50 languages, it is one of the bestselling books of all time, selling more than 50 million copies.
