After their parents are severely injured and Illinois State officials try to separate them, Adam Worthy and his sister, Lake, run away to find their long-lost grandmother, the only family they have left. Meanwhile, in Northern Illinois, Verona Destin and her brother, Lincoln, embark on a mission to find a mysterious 'Moon Woman' to save their eccentric neighbor and friend, Asir Qureshi. Along the way, these four travelers eventually unite and even enlist the help of a troubled teenage runaway, Jack.
