Heather Sutherland grew up in a large family in Australia where she discovered a passion for story- telling very early on. Often she could be seen surrounded by the neighbours' children telling elaborate tales at a very young age. She grew up loving the stories of Enid Blyton which remains with her today. Growing up she worked in communications in the corporate world where she would take particular note during the day of any funny incident or event that she could relate to a captive family audience in the evening. Married, living in Melbourne, Australia she is now mother to 3 young children and during their very early years her passion for children's stories re-ignited. With a new found love of education and a strong belief in the importance of an innocent and extended childhood, she tried her hand at writing. Her first attempt was with a picture book entitled "The Giant and the Mouse" and now has written her first children's novel "Lizzy and the Magic Garage". She formulated the idea for the Lizzy book by drawing on her rich childhood memories, in particular of their beloved Morris Minor family car.
She is now studying for a degree in Early Childhood Education and looks forward to continuing with her literary endeavours.
