Kevin Sylvester grew up like lots of kids, with a basketball hoop in his backyard and a neighborhood full of basketball-loving kids. He's a pretty good outside shooter, but at 5 feet 6 inches, he can only dream of actually dunking a ball. And yes, he does dream about that--a lot. He used to watch the Niagara University Purple Eagles play, the men and the women, and still has a Purple Eagles patch his dad gave him. Dad (six feet tall) was a very good basketball player and taught philosophy at NU. Kevin was a sportscaster with CBC Radio for many years and covered the Toronto Raptors and Vancouver Grizzlies in their early years. It's hard to find a sport Kevin doesn't like. His book Baseballogy explored the great stories and stats behind baseball.
Game Day introduced the people who work behind the scenes to put on sporting events. Both books were nominated for the Silver Birch Award.
