Dr. Thompson is a strategic, innovative, and energetic leader with nearly 30 years of experience as a peace officer and 13 years of serving as a chief of police in Texas. In addition, he holds a master peace officer certification and an instructors' certification with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. A graduate of Texas FBINAA Command College Class # 8, Leadership Command College (module one completion) he was selected twice by the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas for the Texas Police Chief Leadership Series curriculum development focus group. Consequently, recognizing the importance of education, he successfully completed a master's degree in criminal justice and a Doctor of Management in organizational development and change. Thompson is an adjunct professor for the University of Texas at Tyler and has served as a panelist for the Supreme Court of Texas and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals with the beyond the bench program. Successfully, turned around the reputation of a municipal police agency as well as assisted in the creation of an Independent School District Police Department. And currently serves as a school safety specialist developing safety and security programs for 95 public school districts and 7 charter schools in the northeast Texas area.
