"Firefly Cave: The Tunnel to China" is the 8th children's book written and illustrated by Janet Tlachac-Toonen. Since most of the story takes place in the bear cave, Janet drew those illustrations for the story on black paper. This give her familiar characters a new look till they reach the outside where they then appear as they normally would. Colorful fun images are the signature style of Ms. Tlachac-Toonen and this book is a great example of that.Sidney the bear and his pal Simon the duck have made friends with the colorful fireflies that live in the bear cave. With the help of the fireflies lighting their way, the cave explorers are discovering where the tunnels in the cave lead to. The first tunnel leads them to the amazing country of China.
