Tenth volume of poetry by this Australian poet. His eighth volume, 'Under Berlin' (1988), won the 1989 New South Wales State Literary Award for poetry and the 1988 Grace Leven Prize. His poetry moves from discursive free verse to intricate rhyme, from the classic Sapphic stanza to 17th-century Japanese hybrid form. Recently the author edited 'Martin Johnston: Selected poems and prose' and (with Philip Mead) 'The Penguin Book of Modern Australian Poetry'.
