Since the "Collapse," when the USA fractured into multiple republics and civil war, the Horwitz siblings have struggled to live their idiosyncratically Jewish lives in the increasingly hostile Sovereign Republic of North America. But when the Sovereign Republic explodes into antisemitic violence, they are forced to flee through a fractured America in a desperate search for refuge. The Republic of Broken Places is an adult dystopian novel in the tradition of The Plot Against America, The Handmaid's Tale, and The Road, with a uniquely contemporary Jewish perspective.
