I have for some time wanted to photograph a graving dock--or dry dock--up close and in operation. I want to thank the Savannah Yacht Center for allowing me to visit and photograph their facility. But what exactly is it that I photographed? Before my first visit, I spoke to an old boating friend to say I was photographing the graving dock at the Yacht Center, and he corrected me saying I was photographing a "dry dock." When I arrived, I explained to one of the Yacht Center's supervisors that I was photographing their dry dock, and the reply was, "Oh, you mean our graving dock." So a title for this series of photos was born!.
