Stevie Speedy, once a famous racing car, now works quietly as a school crossing guard. When a big race, the Monteagle Road Race, comes to town, Stevie is inspired to compete again after a dangerous encounter with the reckless Shifty LaRue. With help from his friends Rita and Clutch, Stevie prepares for the challenge. Though he doesn't win the race, he earns admiration for his kindness, especially when he stops to help a fellow racer.
