With a lack of medical knowledge and little support available, she realized she had no point of reference for healing and no role model specific to breast cancer. Her fears controlled her experiences until she learned there were ways she could indeed empower herself. In 2006, Beverly created the Breast Cancer Wellness Magazine , a quarterly, full-color publication that goes directly to thousands of breast cancer patients and survivors in all 50 states, as well as to several thousand mastectomy centers, support groups, and breast cancer centers. The magazine was the 2007 recipient of the Don Ranly Publishers Award for Best Issue in its category. In 2012, she was the recipient of the Tigerlily Foundation Transformation Award and in 2014 received the Pink Angel Honoree award. Beverly is the author of How We Became Breast Cancer Survivors and co-author of Faces of Courage and is a contributing writer for Chicken Soup for the Breast Cancer Survivor's Soul , Dancing with Fear: Tips and Wisdom from Breast Cancer Survivors and The Pink Prayer Book .
