"You cannot shine the light unless you first live in the darkness." A young giantess is found unconscious in an ancient forest. She is adopted into the tree village of Hunkpapa and given the name Kotori by her new mother, who teaches her about the village's way of life. As Kotori assimilates, she forms strong bonds with certain members of the village, learning the great joys and sorrows of their human lives. But when violence threatens the tribe and Kotori is forced to defend her new home, she must finally confront the greatest sorrow of all: what she really is.
