The novel is partly based on the real life experiences of the author. It is narrated by Adam Lathey, a geologist and follows him and colleagues on journeys to many countries. Lathey becomes involved with an eclectic array of personnel ranging from Colombian FARC Guerrillas, mercenaries, Pablo Escobar's drug cartel to MI6. Lathey and friends go emerald prospecting in Colombia and are taken prisoner by the irregular army of a brutal war Lord. They eventually escape into the jungle - and into more trouble. This rip roaring novel additionally gives the reader an insight into and there is love interest.
