Clara Ward spends their days in or near the Pacific Ocean in California. Their previous novel, Be the Sea, takes place earlier in the same timeline as Dream the Deep and Dream the Light. All three explore sea creature perspectives and how humans grow by understanding themselves, their communities, and the ecosystems that include all life on Earth (and possibly beyond!).
