This definitive book provides a complete and comprehensive account of the expansion of CinemaScope during 1955 its full second year since the launch of the revolutionary system in September 1953. The book covers the extraordinary growth of the use of CinemaScope during 1955.Eighty-two films were released in CinemaScope that year: seventy-one were American made, seven were made in England, and the other four were foreign productions. This book also includes a further complete filmography of the other 36 films which were presented in all the other wide-film/wide-screen systems during 1955. 32 of these 36 films were made or presented in the two main rival widescreen systems, namely 'VistaVision' and 'SuperScope', with 20 and 12 productions respectively. Two other wide-film/wide-screen systems were used for just one roadshow-limited engagement film presentation each, namely 'Todd-AO' for Oklahoma! and 'Cinerama' for Cinerama Holiday. The final anamorphic system used in 1955 was the British 'CameraScope' process employed by the tiny, family-own company, Adelphi Films, to make two comedy films: You Lucky People! and Fun at St. Fanny's.
