Phyllis Webb was born April 8#44 1927 in Victoria#44 BC#46 She attended the University of British Columbia and McGill University#46 The first major publication of her poetry was inTrio#44 which also included poetry by Eli Mandel and Gael Turnbull#46 Perhaps her most celebrated work isNaked Poems#44 published in 1965#46 Webb worked at the CBC in Toronto for five years#44 where she produced the radio show Ideas#46 She returned to the West Coast in 1969#46The Vision Tree#44 a selection of her poetry#44 won the Governor General s award in 1982#46 Webb has served as writer in residence at the University of Alberta and taught at UBC#44 University of Victoria and the Banff Centre#46 She currently resides on Salt Spring Island#46.
