The Pain of True Love The year is 1999; Micah "Mike" Postell, a former basketball star with a troubled past and unclear future, returned to Carver A&M, a small African-American University, after a two-year absence. He previously left the university and was forced to return to the ghetto in Philadelphia to take care of his ailing grandmother. Mike decided to make another attempt to get his life back on track and possibly play basketball again. Upon arriving on campus, he is looked upon by the whole community as being the key for A&M to reach its goal of making it to the Big Tourney, a post-season college basketball tournament, for the first time in the school's 105-year history.
