Robin B. Williams (Author) ROBIN B. WILLIAMS has taught at the Savannah College of Art and Design since 1993, chairing Architectural History since the founding of the department in 1996. His teaching and research interests include the history of modern architecture and the modern city. He is the lead author of the guidebook Buildings of Savannah , which won the Best Guidebook Award from SESAH in 2018. His publications on the history of street and sidewalk pavements include "The Global Spread of Street Pavement Materials and Technology, 1820-1920," which received the Best Essay in an Edited Volume Award from SESAH in 2023. For more than ten years, Williams served on Savannah's Historic District Review Board and Historic Preservation Commission. He currently lives in Savannah, Georgia.


David W. Gobel (Author) DAVID W. GOBEL is professor of architectural history at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he has taught since 1996. He teaches an assortment of classes including Renaissance and Baroque Architecture; History of Urban Form; Villa and Garden; Architectural and Urban History of Savannah, and Architectural Theory and Criticism. Gobel's research interests include architecture and urban planning in the American South and in early modern Spain, the classical tradition in architecture, and the architecture of the Protestant Reformation, and he has published articles in a variety of architectural and urban-planning journals. He is one of four coauthors of the award-winning SAH Buildings of Savannah guidebook. He lives in Savannah, Georgia.
