Bethan Woollvin won the Macmillan Prize for Illustration in 2014 for Little Red, her darkly comic retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, which was named a New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Books of 2016. It was a startlingly confident debut, which she followed with an equally striking and feminist take on Rapunzel, with not a handsome prince in sight. In 2017, Bethan was awarded the New Talent (Children's Books) Prize at the World Illustration Awards, and was shortlisted for the 2017 Klaus Flugge Prize and the Little Rebels Children's Book Award.The eldest of ten siblings, Bethan understands what appeals to a variety of age groups, and her work exudes a natural dry wit and charm. Inspired by vintage illustration and printmaking, she uses bold colours and quirky characters to tell stories with her illustrations. Bethan graduated from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge with a First Class Degree in Illustration in 2015 and now lives in Sheffield, England.
