Robert E. Wright was born on Veterans Day, November 11, 1949, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and grew up in Lockefield Gardens, an inner-city housing project two miles west of downtown. In June 1968, he graduated from Crispus Attucks High School. He later pursued higher education, earning a Diploma in Old and New Testament Studies from Indiana Christian University in 1983, an Associate of Arts Degree in Leadership and Ministry from Crossroads Bible College in 2014, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Church Management and Ethics from Crossroads in 2015. Robert began his professional career in 1968 as a Residential Installer with Indiana Bell Telephone Company. After 26 years of service, he retired in 1994 as a Project Manager in Network Operations. Soon after, he entered full-time ministry at Eastern Star Church under the leadership of Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson Sr.

, serving as Chief Administrator for 21 years before retiring in 2015. He continues to serve faithfully on the Finance Team, Church Council, and as Chairman of the Deacon Board. Drafted into the United States Army on July 22, 1969, Robert served as a Combat Infantryman with the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1971, receiving numerous commendations, including the Bronze Star and the Air Medal (Second Award). His book, Weapons of War, is both a soldier's story and a personal testimony. It recounts the challenges of youth, faith, and service, and provides readers with a record of how God guided and guarded his path through one of the most difficult seasons of his life. In 2013, Robert was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. Through Rock Steady Boxing, a fitness program designed to slow its effects, he continues to face this battle with courage.

For Robert, Parkinson's is simply another test at a different stage of life. His faith remains steadfast: "As long as the curtain is up, the show goes on.".
