A veteran journalist, Bob Wyss, has spent several years at the granddaddy of all antiques markets, the Brimfield Antique and Collectibles Show. In Brimfield Rush he follows Joe Laskowski and Rachel McKay, a real-life couple from Pennsylvania, as they make their way through Brimfield-and the fascinating, eccentric, often hilarious world of collectibles trading. Joe and Rachel trade inexpensive, largely forgotten American paintings. They would dearly love to open their own gallery. But first there's that mortgage to pay, and those dental bills. Poring over the piles at Brimfield, sleeping in their tent when they can't afford a motel, and joining the stampede known as the "rush" when each field opens, they search for the one unappreciated work of art that will turn their fortunes.
