Before his ill-fated encounter with the Western world, chronicled in the 1933 epic movie "King Kong," the giant gorilla's earlier life has remained a mystery - untill now. "When Kong became King" fills that void with an imaginative account of those formative years, including his brief relationship with his sole remaining parent, who's untimely death leaves the juvenile gorilla orphaned in a dangerous world. It also tells ofKong's first encounter with the native tribe who live beyond the great wall, and a special relationship that is forged with a young boy named Kalobi, who later embarks on a dangerous quest to prove that Kong is still alive, in the hope of reuniting a tribe that has become divided by religious hatred over who is the true deity of Skull Island.
