This edited volume offers a multidimensional analysis of the evolving geopolitics, strategic competition, and legal frameworks shaping outer space in the 21st century. It positions space as a contested domain central to the security, economy, and strategic behaviour of states. Through comparative case studies and theoretical innovation, the book examines how major and emerging powers compete for influence beyond Earth's atmosphere. It explores how perspectives on governance, militarisation, and the entanglement of commercial and military interests are reshaping the domain. By integrating strategic studies, international relations, space law, and regional dynamics, this interdisciplinary volume lays the groundwork for a geopolitical approach to power in the Solar System. Structured around national and regional analyses, the chapters investigate issues such as deterrence, escalation control, and space policy. They also assess governance initiatives, commercial ventures, and technological developments, highlighting implications for cooperation and competition. This analysis equips policymakers and scholars with insights into the evolving nature of competition, conflict, and the need for adaptive strategies in the space domain.
