As stipulated in the 1989 UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, protecting children from violence requires an approach looking beyond physical force in order to address all forms of violence or abuse, including sexual abuse. Through its reporting mechanism the 1989 CRC generates an unknown level of transparency and accountability in international relations.
