Professor Dimitrios Linos (born on June 17, 1951) is a Lecturer in Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Emeritus Professor of Surgery at Athens Medical School in Greece. Professor Linos completed his Surgical training at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He started his academic career at Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland General Hospital before returning to Greece. He has served as Governor of the American College of Surgeons and President of the International Association of Endocrine Surgeons. He has been a mentor to several Harvard College students who complete their internships through the Directors' Internship Program of the Harvard Institute of Politics at the Prolepsis Institute, where he is currently President. His Academic work covers most aspects of General Surgery, although he is considered a worldwide Leader in Endocrine Surgery. Professor Linos was recently ordained a Greek Orthodox priest while continuing his surgical career as Director of Surgery at Hygeia Hospital in Greece. Over the last three years, he has been organizing a virtual course on "Health & Religion," which features Greek and American physicians, theologians, and other specialists who present their views on health and disease, especially from an Orthodox theological perspective.
He is married to Dr. Athena Linos, an Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the Athens Medical School, with whom he has 5 children.
