"The primary audience for this pocket book will be individuals training in or practicing, OBGYN sonography. Sonography programs last between 2 and 4 years and are offered at community colleges, 4 year colleges and career schools. There are 393 programs in the US (8,000 Sonography students). Students typically come to the sonography program with either bachelors or higher level training in a healthcare field or with experience as a radiation technologist. Secondarily, this pocket-sized book will provide a quick clinical reference for practitioners in vascular sonography. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the US has 78,640 practicing sonographers. The presentation of the material will be based on Pocket Anatomy & Protocols for Abdominal Ultrasound. It is image-based with distinct summary tables for specific organ measurements and protocol guidelines as well.
Content will be presented in a bullet format. The layout will be both succinct and distinct. Diagrams will used as appropriate and only essential tables will be provided with information regarding normal organ dimensions and echogenicities (the ability to bounce an echo signal). All diagrams, sonographic images, and illustrations that are provided in the text will be modern imaging and drawings. There exists a need for a concise clinical pocket-sized protocol book for students. The audience for this book can move beyond the sonography student and aid practicing sonographers and medical radiology residents during imaging rotations as well. The series will encompass obstetrics & gynecology, vascular, adult echocardiography, and musculoskeletal"--.
