Dr Sofia Konstantinopoulou, MD, FAAP, is a triple US board-certified pediatric pulmonologist and sleep medicine physician. She completed her training and gained extensive experience at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where she also held an academic position as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.Currently, Dr Konstantinopoulou serves as an attending physician specializing in pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SEHA), the premier referral center for pediatrics in the country. In this role, she manages some of the most challenging cases in pediatric respiratory and sleep medicine, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver compassionate, family-centered care. She also holds the position of clinical lead for the Aerodigestive Program at her institution.With a primary focus on patients with sleep-disordered breathing requiring home mechanical ventilation, Dr Konstantinopoulou is dedicated to providing high-quality care and improving outcomes for these individuals. She plays a pivotal role in medical education as core faculty for her institution's ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program and the World Sleep Academy (WSA).Additionally, Dr Konstantinopoulou is actively involved in professional organizations such as CHEST, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), and the American Thoracic Society (ATS), where she contributes her expertise as a member of the International Health Committee.
