"It would be inaccurate to suggest that this book project represents a McCormack and McCance prequel as it not just presents our back stories as woven throughout the text, but it also represents an attempt to consolidate and expand over 30 years of collective work! During that period, we have been engaged in the field of person-centred nursing and healthcare at all levels of activity. Whilst our respective doctoral studies formed the foundation for our professional lives since then (we reflect further on that in Chapter 7), we have had the privilege and honour of continuing to collaborate and extend our practice in a myriad of ways. Our work has taken us from concept and theory development, through to practice development and implementation research, including the development and testing of tools, processes and methods for implementing, evaluating, and sustaining person-centred nursing and healthcare cultures of practice. As educators we have been passionate about educating future nursing and healthcare practitioners, as well as doing our best to use collaborative, inclusive, participative and creative practices to transform the practice of the current healthcare workforce. Our work has extended around the world, and we have been fortunate to work with an array of amazingly talented and wise persons as collaborators, including people who use nursing and health services, researchers, educators, facilitators, doctoral candidates, strategic leaders, policy makers and a variety of decision-makers. All that work has been shaped and re-shaped by the Person-centred Nursing Framework (PCNF) and the Person-centred Practice Framework (PCPF), both of which are derived from the synthesis of our original doctoral research. We never imagined our PhD work would grow into the theoretical frameworks have today. We know we have made an impact along the way, and we are humbled by the strength of commitment to engaging with these frameworks that we experience across our global collaborations and networks"-- Provided by publisher.
