Chao Chen is a Professor at Southwest Petroleum University. He got a PhD degree in Safety Science at Delft University of Technology in 2021 in the Netherlands, Master degree of Science (MSc) in Safety Engineering of Oil & Gas Storage and Transportation in 2017, Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng) in Oil & Gas Storage and Transportation. In 2022, he was appointed as a professor in the domain of safety and resilience of oil and gas infrastructures at Petroleum Engineering School, Southwest Petroleum University. His research focuses on safety and resilience issues related to oil and gas infrastructures such as pipelines, oil storage tank farms, hydrogen refueling stations. His contributions in safety and resilience domain include resilience assessment and management, dynamic risk assessment, emergency response, safety management, security management and safety economics. He has led several projects related to safety and resilience issues from National Natural Science Foundation of China, Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Plan, and Lloyd's Register Foundation (LRF). He has published more than 30 research papers in international journals such as Reliability Engineering and System Safety, Safety Science, Journal of Loss Prevention In the Process Industries.
Besides, He also published 6 monographs such as the book "Integrated Safety and Security Management to Tackle Domino Effects" published by SPRINGER NATURE. Dr. Ming Yang is a tenured Assistant Professor in Dynamic Risk and Process Resilience at TU Delft. His scientific work mainly focuses on dynamic risk assessment, process resilience modelling to support process safety and security-related design and operational decisions in process and maritime industries. He is currently Associate Editor of ACS Journal of Chemical Health and Safety, Subject Editor of Process Safety and Environmental Protection, Editor-in-Chief of Progress in Safety & Security, Editor of Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Associate Editor of Safety Science and Engineering, Editorial Board Member of Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries, and Journal of Hygiene and Environmental Health Advanced. He has been leading national and international research projects on the topics of risk and resilience management of emerging energy systems and high-tech infrastructures. He has been consecutively listed in Standard University&s Top 2% Scientist (single year and career category) since 2021 in the subject area of "Civil Engineering-Enabling & Strategic Technologies Genserik Reniers, a Master of Science in chemical engineering and PhD in Applied Economic Sciences, is Full Professor at the Safety and Security Science Group of the Delft University of Technology, in the Netherlands, where he teaches courses related to Risk Analysis and Risk Management. At the University of Antwerp as well as at the KULeuven, both in Belgium, he is also professor lecturing amongst others in Engineering Risk Management.
His main research interests concern the collaboration surrounding safety and security topics and socio-economic optimization within the chemical industry. Amongst many other academic achievements and output, he has published 300+ scientific papers in high-quality academic journals, and has (co-)authored and (co-)edited more than 35 books. He serves as an Editor of the Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries and as an Associate Editor of the Journal 'Safety Science'.
